This recently completed evaluation commissioned by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) VIC was tasked to investigate the use, usability and implementation of the CRAF (Victoria’s key risk assessment framework for family violence specialist services and general service providers);
The Review of the CRAF was the primary recommendation of the Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence. This cornerstone project was implemented within extremely tight timelines (1 April 2016 -30 June 2016) and required multiple ethics approvals and engagement with stakeholders across Victoria; participants included domestic violence victims/survivors, Vic Police and key Government and non-government stakeholders involved in using the CRAF. Working collaboratively with networks and partners across the family violence sector, the team secured the participation of over 1100 people from over 125 organisations and relevant workforces.
The Final Report makes 27 recommendations: it provides the platform for the redevelopment of risk assessment and response in Victoria as called for by the Royal Commission. In particular, the team found strong support for the CRAF and widespread commitment to its redevelopment and strengthening.
